If we can understand, desire and celebrate diversity within choral music, why cannot we do it in society?

Every time I write music, I immerse myself in a game, a game in which I think that each melody is like a person: It has its own authenticity and autonomy. Each of them can possess a beauty, a direction, a way of flow and of being that is proper to it. They go through easy moments and difficult moments, stop and silence. From time to time, in the case of a leak, they say something that transforms the course of the other melodies and on other occasions, they accompany and let themselves be carried away by what the other melodies say. We all know that no melody is wrong or good, it’s just the way it is. No matter how different it is from other melodies, its existence must be integrated into the total work to create an even greater beauty, a transcendent beauty where it must listen and be heard.

The challenge for humans would be to understand people with the same mechanism that we understand melodies within choral music. Understand that nobody is wrong, that nobody has defects and that, above all, differences are what enrich the whole. Why, as well as a choral work in which everyone sang a single melody would cease to be a choral work, a society where everyone would think and act the same, would cease to be a society.

Also, as in a chorus there is a will that directs the different melodies with their characteristic traits and their own behaviors that add to each other so that all the existences can create something transcendent. In the universe there is a greater force that directs us. A force that wants each one of us to express himself and the best of himself respecting and understanding the companionship in the group.

Although in a chorus this fact is permanently crystallized, we must understand that also in the world each of us is essential to create a whole whose magnitude and beauty transcends us. There is a force that directs us and that is why we must understand that no one is lost, that every existence has a purpose, a truth that we reveal, and each form of existence is correct and should not be altered if not rather included. The only action that is not correct is that which oppresses the existence of creation, the actuators that oppress a form of flow and being, of containing certain characteristics. The wills that focus on not letting the other exist.

Diversity is essential, that is why the diversity of thoughts, ethnic groups, orientations is part of creation.

Si podemos entender, desear y celebrar la diversidad dentro de la música coral ¿Por qué no podemos hacerlo en la sociedad?

Cada vez que escribo música me sumerjo en un juego, un juego en el que pienso en que cada melodía es como una persona: Tiene su propia autenticidad y autonomía.  Cada una de ellas es capaz de poseer una belleza, un rumbo, un modo de fluir y de ser que le es propio. Atraviesan momentos fáciles y momentos difíciles, se detienen y hacen silencio. De vez en cuando, en el caso de una fuga, dicen algo que transforma el rumbo de las otras melodías y en otras ocasiones, acompañan y se dejan llevar por lo que dicen las otras melodías. Todos sabemos que ninguna melodía está mal ni está bien, simplemente es como es. Sin importar cuan diferente sea de las otras melodías, su existencia debe ser integrada a la obra total para crear una belleza aún mayor, una belleza trascendente dónde debe escuchar y ser escuchada. 

El desafío para el humano sería entender a las personas con el mismo mecanismo que entendemos a las melodías dentro de la música coral. Comprender que nadie está equivocado, que nadie tiene defectos y que, sobre todas las cosas, las diferencias son las que enriquecen al todo. Porqué, así como una obra coral en la cual todos cantaran una sola melodía dejaría de ser una obra coral, una sociedad dónde todos pensaran y actuaran igual, dejaría de ser una sociedad.

También, así como en un coro hay una voluntad que dirige las diferentes melodías con sus rasgos característicos y sus comportamientos propios que se suman unas a las otras para que todas las existencias puedan crear algo trascendente. En el universo hay una fuerza mayor que nos dirige.  Una fuerza que quiere que cada uno de nosotros se exprese y de lo mejor de sí mismo respetando y entendiendo el compañerismo en el grupo. 

Si bien en un coro este hecho se ve cristalizado permanentemente, debemos entender que también en el mundo cada uno de nosotros es imprescindible para crear un todo cuya magnitud y belleza nos trasciende. Hay una fuerza que nos dirige y por eso debemos entender que nadie está perdido, que cada existencia tiene un propósito, una verdad que revelarnos y cada forma de existencia es correcta y no debe ser alterada si no más bien incluida. El único accionar que no es correcto es el que oprime la existencia de la creación, los accionares que oprimen una forma de fluir y de ser, de contener determinadas características. Las voluntades que se centran en no dejar existir al otro.

La diversidad es imprescindible, por eso la diversidad de pensamientos, etnias, orientaciones forma parte de la creación.
