Synopsis

The Last March of Destiny is one of Santiago Veros’ most monumental works, featuring text by the acclaimed poet Charles Anthony Silvestri. Its premiere took place in Russia before the war, performed by the Chamber Choir St. Petersburg Serenades, and since then, it has been performed in various countries by renowned choirs such as Central Bucks High School-West Choir, Jacksonville University Singers, Montgomery High School Madrigals, SoFlo Harmony, and Vellichor, among others.

The piece immerses us in a world shrouded in darkness. The sky, veiled in a gray mantle, seems to have forgotten the light. Humanity, trapped in the shadows, stands at a point of no return. But at the threshold of the portal where angels dwell, a luminous voice resounds from the dawn of time. Its echo awakens the mountains and summons every living being to witness the arrival of a new era.

As the march progresses, the earth trembles under the weight of destiny. The harmony of voices intertwines with the roar of the inevitable: the veil of shadows is torn apart, and a unique opportunity presents itself before us. This is the moment to walk with determination, gratitude, and humility. To honor the past and embrace the light that guides us into the future.

With a monumental character and a choral architecture of great impact, The Last March of Destiny has become an anthem of transformation. Its global resonance led to the creation of a version for choir and orchestra, commissioned by Eric A. Johnson, with the orchestral arrangement crafted by Micaela Carballo. Additionally, the piece has been performed in a virtual choir, bringing together voices from around the world in a collaborative production that further amplifies its message of hope and rebirth.
