Odes of Love

A choral ode to love and shared beauty

Your choir can be part of the world premiere of Odes of Love, the opening work of a three piece international consortium that celebrates what connects us most: love. This music is written to sound grand while staying approachable and singable for choirs at many levels.

Why is it so hard to make a premiere?

Premiering a new choral work usually feels like an odyssey. It starts with a meeting, then comes a four digit number, a trip to the finance office, and endless pleading for budget approval. You justify the project again and again, prepare documents, defend it at a board meeting, fight for it with all your energy, and when the green light finally arrives, you are already exhausted, and only just at the starting line.

Then comes the next part: the piece is beautiful, yes, but suddenly everything else has to stop because the choir is facing an almost impossible challenge. What began as excitement slowly turns into fatigue.

That is why these premieres rarely happen. Many conductors dream of leaving their mark, yet end up choosing safe repertoire. Not because they lack passion, but because the system made it hard. Individual commissions isolate us, each choir fighting alone for something that should have been shared from the start.

Odes of Love was created to change that. The dream of premiering something meaningful, celebrating love, and doing it with ease is now possible. This consortium is an international collaboration that brings fresh air to the repertoire while keeping the warmth and intimacy of choral singing.

About the piece

Odes of love when you close your eyes
and hear the ocean’s roar
When the sand breathes under your feet
When your hope makes the air bloom.

Odes of love when your fingers dream
and warmth unfolds like light
When the sun sets deep in your heart
When the night sings you home again.
First two stanzas of the poem

This piece was born from a deep sense of gratitude for being alive, from realizing that as long as we are here, we have the chance to love people, moments, and the everyday things we often take for granted.

It is music that feels close, that breathes with the voices and blossoms in simplicity, with harmonic turns that surprise and a texture that pulses like a heartbeat. A piece that grows, embraces, and leaves you with the feeling of coming home.

Why I created this project

After many years writing for choirs around the world, I realized something essential: what truly unites us is not the difficulty of the music, but the shared experience of singing it.

When the opportunity arose to write about the best thing we have, love, I felt I could create something that would inspire connection, reflection, and joy. Together with two dear friends, I dreamed of a consortium that would celebrate life and the simple joy of singing together.

Odes of Love was born as an act of connection and gratitude. More than a score, it is an invitation to pause, breathe, and celebrate that we are alive, together, still singing about love.
